- The deal will see ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia Pty Ltd (CDC) form the largest combined network of taxis in Australia with around 9,000 vehicles
- In line with ComfortDelGro’s strategy to scale its growing point-to-point mobility business and transform CDC into a multi-modal mobility service provider
ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, CDC Private Mobility Pty Ltd’s acquisition of A2B Australia Limited (A2B) is now completed, establishing an Australia-wide taxi network with more than 9,000 vehicles.
CDC’s acquisition of A2B – a leading Australian taxi network and a major technology and payment solutions provider for the personal transport industry – includes taxi services brands 13cabs and Silver Service, a leading taxi and booking dispatch platform MTI and the Cabcharge payment solution.
CDC’s parent company, SGX-listed ComfortDelGro was a major, long-term shareholder of the ASX-listed A2B, and the two companies have worked together in the Australian market over many years.
ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia Chairman, Mr Russell Balding AO, said: “The acquisition of A2B is well aligned with our strategy to further grow and improve our point-to-point mobility business in Australia. The addition of A2B’s taxi networks and technology solutions to our point-to-point mobility brands, which include Swan Taxis, the largest operator of taxis in Western Australia, positions CDC as the operator of the largest integrated taxi network in Australia and to deliver a cost effective and customer focused service. Our integrated taxi services are now a major segment of our multi-modal mobility service across Australia.”
ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia Managing Director & CEO, Mr Nicholas Yap, said: “We welcome A2B’s team to the ComfortDelGro family in Australia. We’re very excited about the future of our business in this market, particularly given the opportunity to expand our reach and solidify our commitment to an Australian company that has prevailed amid a highly competitive environment. Our priority is to continue to provide competitive and innovative mobility solutions to serve the needs of Australian transport users.”
CDC has a long-term commitment to the Australian market, where it has operated for almost 20 years, employing over 4,800 people. With the A2B acquisition, CDC now has a total fleet of over 12,000 vehicles nationally, including buses, patient transport vehicles and taxis.
In addition to being one of Australia’s largest bus operators, CDC is now a leading personal transport provider through its taxi and non-emergency patient transport businesses, catering to passengers with multiple needs. This latest acquisition further builds on CDC’s commitment to link people to places and communities.
Globally, ComfortDelGro now has a taxi fleet of more than 29,000 vehicles and has 210km of rail network in operation and under development. ComfortDelGro, through Auckland One Rail, operates the largest metro in New Zealand, comprising 94km of total rail network.
